Information & Outreach
The Lower Wind River Conservation District (LWRCD) values education and outreach as a way to build awareness and understanding of our area’s natural resources. Our goal is to provide natural resource conservation educational opportunities and information for the constituents within our District, to be able to make informed decisions about conservation and sustainable land use.
Engaging Youth in Conservation
LWRCD partners with schools, youth groups, and community organizations to ensure that children and young people receive education on natural resource conservation. Most of our activities are hands-on and cover topics such as water testing, geology, mapping, identifying soil types, grasses, trees, shrubs, weeds, insects, animals, and conservation practices. Educational programs are evolving with our growing district and can be tailored to meet learning standards and the needs of educators. We can offer in-class presentations, field trips, hands-on experiences, and a lending library. Please reach out to us if we can help you plan your educational event.
Public Education
LWRCD provides information and workshops to the general public on topics related to our programs and natural resources, including but not limited to healthy soils and no-till drills, trees, small acreage and irrigation, and current or seasonal topics of interest. We participate in National Ag Day, Ag and Garden Expos, Farm and Ranch Days, Fremont County Fair, and share updates through newsletters and social media. If you have an event that you would like us to provide a demonstration or our booth with reference materials at, please let us know.
Conservation-Focused Agriculture
LWRCD promotes sustainable farming and ranching practices that align with environmental conservation. One example is our no-till drill rental program, which helps producers implement soil-friendly planting techniques. Our staff also attends conferences and workshops to bring expertise to the community and support producers in applying best practices on their land.
Program Assistance for Landowners
The district ensures that constituents and partners are aware of technical assistance and funding programs that support natural resource conservation projects. More information can be found on our Cost Share page.
Communication with Government Officials
LWRCD provides information and education to elected officials and decision-makers about natural resource conservation issues, helping them understand the impacts of policies and initiatives on natural resource management and landowners.
