Board
What is a Conservation District Supervisor?
A Conservation District Supervisor is an elected official who helps manage and protect local natural resources. These supervisors, who are residents of the district, form a five-member board to oversee conservation programs and address local needs.
They’re responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Helping create programs to address the conservation concerns of their district, such as soil erosion, and water quality.
- Overseeing projects and programs and helping prioritize what is most important, and should receive funding and attention.
- Providing staff the direction needed to carry out the district’s programs and daily operations.
- Attending board meetings, regional and state meetings, and local events to represent the district’s interests.

Board Composition and Election
Each Conservation District in Wyoming is governed by a five-member board. The composition of this board is defined by law to ensure a balance of representation:
- Three Rural Supervisors: These individuals must live outside any incorporated municipality within the district.
- One Urban Supervisor: This person must live inside an incorporated municipality.
- One At-Large Supervisor: This position can be filled by someone residing anywhere within the district.
Supervisors are elected by residents on the general election ballot for four-year, non-partisan terms. Candidates must be eligible to vote in the district and meet specific residency requirements for the entire duration of their term.
This past January, we had the privilege of recognizing and celebrating our dedicated Board Members at a special luncheon. We took a moment to acknowledge all of their years of service and commitment to conservation, soil health, and supporting our local producers. We are deeply grateful for their leadership, hard work, and passion for preserving our natural resources for future generations. https://www.facebook.com/reel/632688932569507
